Ramona’s Reach

Ramona Reimer was a passionate woman who died of cancer at the age of 26. During her life she felt a special call to go to Africa and help the less fortunate, especially orphans. As she was fighting her battle with cancer, she still believed she would go there one day. Her faith, love and her vision for Africa became stronger and stronger as her battle continued.
After a 3 year courageous battle with cancer she passed away on Nov.27/09.
After Ramona passed away her family as well as close friends decided to accept her dream for the less fortunate of Africa and continue to pursue it in her memory. She has passed the baton on to us, and amazingly doors have opened for us and people have felt called to help with the vision for Africa. Now her dream has become our dream, the dream to help the disadvantaged of Africa.
Ramona was a niece of Alpha Hockey Inc founder and CEO, Ray Petkau. We are proud to have had a part in building the Ramona’s Reach Children’s Home, School, Health center and Guesthouse in Pamora, Africa. Ramona was also married to a cousin of James Reimer, and James has been instrumental in helping raise funds for this charity.

Autism and Special Needs Children playing Hockey
Click to Learn More
Thomas Greiss is quickly becoming a top goalie in the NHL. When time allows, he volunteers with various Autism and special needs groups and organizations for young people who play hockey. Thomas and wife Brittney, have a special connection with people who have Autism, as Brittney’s niece lives with this disorder.
Thomas and Brittney have partnered with numerous special needs hockey teams and other events to support Autism Research, and to assist those living with Autism.
As a show of support for people with Autism, Thomas has the Autism Puzzle painted on each of his goalie masks. The interlocking, mutli-colored puzzle piece has become the international symbol of autism. Its significance has become multi-faceted. For some it represents the mystery and complexity of the disorder, for others it represents the mechanical nature of an autistics persons thought process. For Thomas, it has a personal meaning, and he and Brittney are happy to show their support.

April Reimer, wife of James Reimer, created this campaign to challenge students to spread positive messages through online social networks. With the rapid increase of technology, cyber-bullying has grown into a national wide issue. Social network sites are where cyber-bullying is produced but just like these sites can be used for harm, they can also be used for good. This is where #tweetsweet comes in.
